In Memory of Thac Nguyen
June 1964
- September 2004
Although Thac has left this world,
we are comforted by the fact that he has transcended into eternity and awaits a
reunion with us when we, too, shall pass. In the Vietnamese culture, we
believe that the spirit of the recently deceased visits us and bids goodbye in
our dreams. Soon after his death, he came to one of us in a dream to let
us know that he had created a beacon to show us the way to this other world, and
to ensure us that he would be waiting for us! And in several dreams, we
were so happy to see that he was the vibrant, healthy, and happy Thac that had
always made him such a warm presence to others, especially to children.
Thac had a quiet, unassuming personality, and he sometimes appeared to be shy.
However, once you got to know him, you quickly realized that he was just the
type of person who only spoke when he had something to say, and didn't feel the
need to speak just to make idle chatter. You would also soon realize that
he was a very caring and unselfish individual who was always willing to help
others, whether through advice, computer assistance, or whatever it was that you
needed; Thac would be there. And of course, you would get to know his
mischievous side; Thac loved a good practical joke, and would often bring a
smile to your face as you witnessed him pulling off his latest prank...
